Hi I've had my Dell Insprion 5100 for about 3-4 months now and it consists of a Mobility Radeon 7500. After playing games on it such as either Counter-Strike or Warcraft 3 the display seems to scramble, distorted and overheated. We have contacted Dell about the problem and were first told to reinstall the video drivers, but there was no success. We then called again and are told that it is a software problem. This maybe true but I think it is something wrong with either the CPU or video card. I would just like to get some helpful feedback on maybe what is happening or anyway to solve the problem. Thanks

The problem is most likely that your unit is overheating. I also have an Inspiron 5100 and those units tend to build up dust where the exhaust air comes out of the back of the unit, causing it to overheat. You can learn more about it by searching the Dell support forums for "5100 overheating". If you want to get an idea if this is your problem you can take a can of compressed air and blow it through the opening in the back to the left of where you plug in the power cord.
