Hi, my laptop has started freezing randomly after 10-20 minutes of use, and I need to unplug it and take the battery out to turn it off.

Then once its off I have to wait an hour or so before it will turn back on, and this repeats until I want to throw it across the room.

Suggestions or questions?

First, you never have to take a battery out unless there is physical damage. Holding the power button in for 5-10 seconds will turn a hung laptop off.

Second, it sounds like your laptop is going into power saver mode. Is you laptop plugged in at the time or on batteries. If it is plugged in then it could be going into standby mode. To turn this off

- Goto your control panel
- Select Power Options
- Set the options to never go to standby when plugged in.

If it is windows Vista then you will need different instructions.

Holding the power button for 10 seconds seriously doesn't turn it off.

And its plugged in when it freezes, but I already have it set so it doesn't go into standby when its plugged in.

So it has physical damage? I don't see how it could as its just been sitting on my computer desk since I've owned it

When it locks up, it completely freezes. Sometimes it does this when windows is loading. If I close the laptop then open it, it still has the same screen when I open it.

Alright problems I noticed when I'm trying to turn it on after its froze:

- If just the battery is in, it won't turn on

- If its just the adapter, it won't turn on either

- If its the adapter and the battery, the charge light will turn on for a second then turn off. If I let it sit for at least 20 minutes then it will turn on. Once I get it to turn on, it will either freeze when loading windows or after 10-20 minutes of use.

What do I do? Buy a new battery? Take it to a shop?
