Dell Inspiron N5010 locked out Need Bios pass

Specs: Windows Vista
Cannot get past invalid password This Laptop only 2 months old and dell wants $90.00 to restore bios password they say it is a software problem not a hardware problem. service tag 5S7PRP1, any input ?

Nope. If you don't remember the password, you have no choice but to pay Dell the $90.

I'd make them pay to fix it if you are sure you know the correct password.

Bios password or security password should be part of their warranty. It is not software at all.

I still hate dell by the way. They still owe me $66.

Laptops do not come password protected from the factory, the passwords are setup by the user. And once they're set, it's the users responsibility to remember what they are, not Dell. To get the password cleared or reset, you will have to produce proof of ownership & pay a fee. Sorry, but that's how it works.

In most cases a BIOS password problem isn't caused by either faulty hardware or software. It is a user problem. Either a legitimate user has forgotten the password or someone other than a legitimate user is attempting to gain access.
