Hello,
I am having problems with my Dell Inspiron 8100, when i turn the laptop on, it displays the start up screen just fine, but as soon as the Windows 2000 logo appears the screen reduces in size, very small about 50% of the screen size. Then the display just turns off. If I tilt the screen just enough i can see the desktop but its very dark and still small. Sometimes it seems if the screen just turns off as well. If I plug the laptop into a desktop monitor the display is just fine, no problems. I was wondering if this is a short in the screen? or graphic problem? The laptop is no longer under warranty, and i was just wondering if anyone has any idea on what it might be.
Thanks

Could need an updated or reset to factory defaults BIOS, refresh or new install of graphics drivers. Sometimes there is also a "screen expansion" setting in the BIOS of laptops that will "expand" the screen image before the operating system drivers get loaded.
