dell inspiron 580 looking for a boot file

Dell Inspiron 580 desktop

Specs: Windows 7 64 bits

I've just acquired a DELL Inspiron 580. (Win 7 64 bits)

Its working fine, but when booting its always looking for a boot file as if it were a diskless-station. Only after 15 or 20 seconds, when no boot file was found/received by the NIC the machine boots by the hard-drive.

I've checked and rechecked the BIOS (boot order, disabling all possible settings about the NIC, etc, etc) with no-success. Everytime i have to boot or reboot the same: NIC looking for a boot file. By the way: NIC (on-board) = Broadband NetLink Gigabit Ethernet

What am i missing?

Thanks in advance for any help

The boot order isn't correct, set it right (1.Fdd 2.Optical drive 3. Hdd etc). Make sure to save changes before exit bios.

Hi Kuwese,

Tks for your reply.

Let me say my BIOS settings

Advanced Chipset Settings
OnBoard LAN Boot ROM = Disabled

Boot Device Configuration
Boot Settings
1st Boot Device: [SATA:ST......]
2nd Boot Device: [CD/DVD: TSST corp DV]
3rd Boot Device: [Disabled]

Still looking for a boot-file...Weird!

Tks again
