Dell Inspiron 5100 laptop

Specs: Windows XP

My laptop won't start up, when the charger is plugged in and I try to power up the fan will turn on and the computer will seem like it is turning on but then shut off completely before anything else happens. If the power supply is not plugged in when I turn it on the fan will start, the power light will turn on, then the fan will momentarily stop but then restart again. It will stay that way with nothing happening except the NUM LOCK light blinking. No bios, no windows, nothing.

I have tried hooking it up to a working monitor, nothing happens.

I have tried reseating the memory, nada.

Any Ideas? Thanks.

"Any Ideas?"

Sure. The CPU is overheating & the system is automatically shutting down to prevent the CPU from burning out. When's the last time you blew the dust out of it?
