hi, I have the issue of vertical lines on my dell inspiron 1545 screen. I can hook my laptop to an external monitor and it displays correctly with no lines on the screen. I have replaced the lcd cable but have the same lines coming up. I used to be able to gently bend the sides of the display and the lines would go away sometimes but now it doesn't fix it anymore. I have seen comments on forums about a column decoder driver failing but don't know what it is or how to fix (if possible). Do I need to just replace the lcd itself maybe? It's out of warranty and dell will fix it but they want 200 canadian dollars. Im hoping to fix it for cheaper.

There is no fix, you need to replace the LCD. Check ebay for the LCD, shouldn't be too much over 70 -80 USD
