My firend has a dell inspiron 1525. He a had a problem where he couldn't log in because Vista kept telling him some stupid error, anyways, thats not the problem, When he asked me to look at it it wouldnt boot up, so I suggested he reformat and start over seeing as there wasnt much on the laptop, so I was reformatting it and and error occured, and restarted the installation process( which was slow as hell, took 1.5h to get to the format screen) and when I got to the format and make partition screen nothing showed up, I tried to install to drivers for the hard drive which were on this disk but all that showed up was one harddrive with 0mb. The Bios also says Primary Hard Drive: -none-
Getting to the point...
Do SATA hard drives require you to install drivers before they can be used?
What should I do to get the computer fully operational?
Manufacturer: Dell computer corporation
Model: Optiplex gx270
OS: Microsoft Windows XP Professional CPU/Ram: 2.793 GHz / 1022 MB
Video Card: ATI Radeon 9600 Pro (128mb)

SATA drivers are for Windows, not the BIOS. The HDD *should* be detected...if it's not, you have a hardware problem. Check the cables.
