Specs: Windows XP
So I have this problem and I hope somebody can help me. I have a Dell Inspirion 1525 laptop that I am replacing the existing 160 GB WD hd with a 250 GB WD hd. Heres my problem after I installed the new hd the BIOS recognizes the 250 hd and the Dell diagonisitcs also recognizes the hd but when I do to install the Windows XP OS I get the error that there is no hd installed? I have even downloaded the WD diagonsis file and ran that and still nothing. If anybodt has any ideas please let me know thank you so much.

I'll bet the drive is SATA. Xp does not contain SATA drivers in it's normal setup files.
You will need to obtain appropriate SATA drivers and when you get the initial "Press F6 to load third party drivers" you need to switch out the XP disk for one containing the SATA driver and once it is loaded re-insert the XP disk to continue the install.
