Dell Dimension 3000

My dell dimension 3000 loses it's display and the cd rom light blinks like the pc is trying to reboot. this happens after it's been on a few minutes. the fans and hard drive are still spinning when this happens. i have to reboot with the power button to get it back for awhile. any ideas? i'm thinking power supply. thanks.

open the case (if it does not void the warranty), and check for dirt around the fans.

i have already cleaned out the pc with compressed air before i began working on this problem. all fans are working fine. any other ideas? thanks
