Yes, i have a Dell optiplex GX240, It is a tower form... i want to change to another much lighter case.. Will a optiplex 170L case work ? Or is there any other light weight case that might work...

Why do you want to do that? The only way to get a significant weight loss is to go to an aluminum case.
Going to a smaller case can present cooling issues and the motherboard may not fit.
It is difficult to get specs on OEM motherboards. Could be ATX or mATX. Makes a big difference on what cases can be used.

The reason is as stated, the PC is too heavy, thats why i want to change the case...And i would change to a regular case .But Dell uses different way to bolt down the motherboard.

I bought a ATX Mid tower case, and I am modding it to fit the dell motherboard... So far so good,I will have too use the dell power supply ,and half of the dell control panel for wiring...
(Ok! I just finished the Dell Project,I was able to get it working with some case modding and some fabrication..)
