Hi, I have a dell latitude d505 laptop.. battery does not hold charge when plugged in with an third party charger.. But holds charge for about 2-3 hours when plugged with a brand new DELL charger.. Would any one of you explain this difference ?

Have you looked at the current output of the two different chatges.
If the third party one is less than the Dell it would mean that it would need longer to charge the battery. You should be looking at the current in Amps as well as the voltage.

Is this dell latitude d505 laptop the refurbished computer you bought with a 7-day return policy? If it is you should have heeded the advices previously given you and sent it back.
