Dell 8200 only runs at 400 MHZ FSB

Comment:
I rebuilt a Dell 8200 recently. The motherboard supposedly supports both 400 and 533 FSB. I installed a P4 2.4GHZ processor with a FSB of 533, but it will only run at 1.8GHZ because the mobo insists on running at 400 MHZ. I installed the most current bios update (A09). When in the bios, the only FSB shown is 100(when multiplied = 400). The fsb is grayed out at 100. The only changable setting is normal or compatible. Normal runs at 1.8. Compatible says 1.8 but runs at a crawl. Is there some way via firmware or hardware to activate the 533 FSB? I searched the Dell website without finding anything. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

see here: http://www.lyberty.com/tech/sysspec... It would appear to depend on when you pc was built, whetheer it does 533mhz or not. It would seem prior to 06 may 2002 machines can only do 400mhz fsb
