this dell has 2 sata drives attached to a raid. it has sata & ide on mb. i pulled the raid card. says the drives are bad. i tried setting bios sata to none, turned on ide and it looses the ide optical drives and won't see the ide hd.. help. i have no sata drives to try but do have ide. it has 1 ide dvd & 1 ide dvd rw.

What is the physical configuration of the IDE devices? Have you checked the jumpers? Are the drives seen in the BIOS?

The bios has drive settings for sata, ide primary and ide secondary. 1 & 2 for each. the optical drives are on ide secondary 1 & 2. With either of the sata drives in they show up on the sata 1 or 2 and it sees the optical drives. If I pull the sata drives and turn them off in the bios, insert an ide drives set for master (1) or slave (2)and turn the bios primary on (only settings are auto or off) it doesn't see any ide devices. The optical drives show up in the bios as unknown as do the hard drive. seems easy to setup but doesn't work...
