Specs: Windows Vista
The E: drive on my 1545 shows 18GB total 1.3GB free. Backup fails because drive is full. How do I make room for backups again

Remove unnecessary files.

What does your question have to do with the Dell Recovery Partition?

Hi Jennifer;

My dell 1545 uses the restore partition to do file backups. It
was set up that way from the factory. I tried deleting some of
the backup files and that caused the whole backup and
restore routine to be disabled. I used a data restore program
and got it working again but I only have 1.3GB free on the E:
drive.

If I try to get into the Restore section, it is hidden. I know I
know, if the hard drive goes kerflooey I've lost all my data
anyway so I should back up my stuff elsewhere. I'm just a
stubborn ol' coot who likes things to work proper.

Thanks for the reply though.

I have the same model, and I have no idea what you're talking about. The Restore partition isn't to be used for backups. It's there so that you can do a Restore to Factory settings on your laptop.

I bow to your obviously superior knowledge. I am so stupid.
How could I have been so dumb. My apologies to the whole
forum. Please forgive me.
