Hi,

I know this is a hopeless question but I want to give it a shot anyway. I deleted partition with NTFS file system. The size of the disk was 6GB. I reformatted (quick) and reinstalled the operating system and software. More than a half of the disk is written with the new os/software. Is there any chance I would be able to recover anything from the previous partition/filesystem ?

thanks

you will need to consult a data recovery service like OnTrack. If the OS you installed has overwritten your data, then no, you can't get it back.

www.quetek.com

It is VERY powerful... much more so than all others I have used. It found tons of stuff that all other software failed to find.

You wil be able to recover data, whether that data is worth anything is another issue. In my experience, large files (100's meg, are usually corrupt.

Thanks for the tips. I called OnTrack and the engineers said the chances are slim. I tried their software (they let you use the trial version to identify any files you might be able to recover). I was able to recover some stuff but nothing valuable. I tried quetek too, but ontrack's raw scan gave better results. I guess I'll be more careful in the future. :)
