I was thinking of purchasing the Asus A7V8X motherboard but it seems most of the Asus range have no on-board graphics, does this mean I will have nothing displayed on my monitor or anywhere to plug it into until I purchase a graphics card for the AGP port? Sorry if it seems a dumb question but its my first attempt of building a PC. Also, if the above is the case, can anyone recommend a mobo that has on board graphics (preferably in the Asus range or similar spec.) I am hoping to use AMD XP 2200 with 256DDR Memory. ( i persume is OK for my purposes) :- Surfing internet and occasional playing games. Any help in this matter greatly appreciated. (I am a newbie!)

Onboard graphics are normally on the low end of the scale. If you are going to be playing games, it would probably be a good idea to go with at least a medium priced card.

Actually the new Intel acelerated graphics chips (on new Intel boards) share up to 128MB and do a pretty decent job really.

In 1982 Cadillac put the new super-lame Chevy 1.8L 4-cylinder engine in this revolutionary car called the Cadillac Cimarron. It was a piece of crap and a disgrace to the Cadillac name and everyone who bought the car regretted it.
Similarly, Asus still puts Via chipsets in its motherboards.

A Motherboard with good onboard graphics is the Biostar M7NCG it comes with Geforce4 MX 440 w/ 64 meg of RAM built into the Motherboard. It also has an 8X AGP slot in case you grow tired of the onboard graphics and want to upgrade later. It also uses Nforce2 chipset which is good for graphics. You can find one on Newegg.com for about 100.00 dollars with free shipping. They almost always have it sitting on your doorstep in three days. No matter where you are in the country. Hope this helps.
