Dead msi n1996 motherboard k9agm2

Specs: Vista
I have a Medion model MD8825 Desktop with a MSI N1996 K9AGM2 mother board. It will not start. It begins to start the fans on the board and power supply and then just stops. I tried another power supply and it didn't fix the problem. Any ideas other than replace motherboard? If replacement is necessary, where can I get one?

N1996 isn't the motherboard model, it's a compliance code "C-Tick" number. N1996 = MSI. See response #11 in this thread:

Your motherboard is somewhat outdated so finding an exact replacement will be difficult.

How about some more info about your problem? What happened to cause it & what makes you think it's the PSU or board? What are the specs to both the old & new PSU (wattage & amperage ratings)? Did you buy a decent replacement or a $20 cheapie?
