ddr400 on ddr266 slot

hi,i have an iwill motherboard and i want to install an 1g ddr400 ram on it,but i couldn't find any ddr266 module(iwill supports only 200&266).when i install it and turn the pc on it begins to beep (continuously),what's the problem?thanks

It could be that it does not support CAS3 which DDR400 is, DDR266/333 is usually CAS2.5. The motherboard may only support single-sided memory, but as you list no specs it is guesstimating!!
Go to http://www.crucial.com and use the Memory Scanner is the easiest way, you board may only support 512MB maximimum !!
