But with both ddr2 and ddr3, you have the option of using DDR2 RAM now and then aletr switching to DDR3 when it's cheaper and does bring more to the table.
I am not a fan of MBoards that attempt to be one size fits all. These boards usually underperform using either option available and are usually more expensive. There are many examples to cite but I am not going to bother.
The DDR3/DDR2 motherboards that come out now hold little to no advantage over DDR2 motherboards. So even if you do decide to switch over to DDR3 later with one of these DDR3/DDR2 motherboards, you're not going to see any real performance boost from it, because you will be stuck using first generation DDR3 speeds.
This reminds me of DDR2/DDR1 motherboards when they came out.
