I recently built my own computer and since my mobo supported the more expensive DDR2 ram, I decided to get spend my money on a 512MB DDR2 Corsair stick of ram. My alternative was to get 2x512MB of the regular DDR ram. But I opted to go for the new stuff and less of it, telling myself that I'd benefit from getting the new stuff in the future when DDR2 is more popular.
Right now since I only have the 1 stick of ram, apparently I'm running in "Single Channel Mode".
Would it be a good idea for me to buy another 512MB DD2 ram so I could run in Dual Channel Mode? Should I buy the 512MB now, or wait until it goes down in price? I was going to wait until the DDR2 ram went down in price, but if running in Dual Channel Mode would greatly improve performance then I'm willing to pay the price.
Thanks

Yes, dual channel RAM does have a performance advantage over single.
You could buy another stick now, or if you prefer to wait, prices are likely to fall in the future. You'll have to make up your own mind.

Is there anyway to test your laptop when it has been dropped i did the Dell Diagnostic it passed the tests for Processor, RAM, CD ROM etc....
What happens when it runs tests? it was testing memory addresses each one and also hardisk testing every address and i wonder what exactly is happening when its tests these addresses. It also tested the L2 chache etc...
As i have a 3,02 Ghz processor i was wondering even if it passes the test does that mean the speed is still the same after a drop and also if all the processor runs fine in the test, i mean what is being checked in testing? and is there a speed test not only a test to check it works?
Is Dell Diagnostics reliable is there any sort of benchmark speed test i can run with additional software
Is there any software that checks every component on the laptop?
Thank you for replying if you have replied

Riley, I don't see what this has to do with nonames memory question. You should have started a new thread.
But since you asked. There is no way that your processor speed will change by dropping you computer. If the supplied diagnostic disks say your computer is OK and you can't see anything wrong, it's probable OK. Just be more careful in the future.
If your computer is running slow and you think it's because you dropped it, you've probably got spyware problems. Download and use Spybot search and destroy and Adaware. Be careful not to use similar name offerings.
