I have 800mghz frequency ram, but when i bootup, it reads the speed as 667mghz. I checked the qvl, and unless im reading it wrong, i have approved sticks in there.
AMD 64 X2 6400+
Asus m2n32-sli deluxe
kingston DDR2 (PC2-6400) (KHX6400D2LLK2/2G)
Am i doing something wrong?

I don't see the part # you have list on the QVL. What is that part? 2 - 2GB sticks?

Yes, the "/2G" part you can ignore, i think the vendor added that part, and i included it by mistake.

Check the memory settings in the BIOS. If it's set to AUTO, change it to DDR2-800.

Question though - was that just for the system recognizing i have "800mghz" freq ram, or does it affect my performance?

Just about any setting you change in the BIOS can affect performance in one way or another. This change boosted performance...it increased the RAM frequency from 333MHz to 400MHz & memory bandwidth increased from 5333MB/sec to 6400MB/sec. The dual channel bandwith increased from 10.6GHz/sec to 12.8GHz/sec.
Sounds good, right? lol
