Can't give you an answer unless you provide the specs of the system you're asking about....CPU make/model, motherboard make/model & the amount/type of RAM you're currently running.

According to Crucial's specs, you can use up to 2 gigs of ddr pc2700 or pc 3200. Do you happen to know what processor you have?

Here's your motherboard specs:

The proper RAM for your system is PC2700. PC3200 would be of no real benefit & PC2100 will decrease the performance. If you mix RAM speeds, the RAM will always run at the speed of the slowest. In other words, if you add PC3200 to the PC2700, all RAM will run as PC2700. If you add PC2100 to the PC2700, all RAM will run as PC2100.

If you go to crucial.com and use their online scan tool it should be able to tell you the exact RAM modules that will work in your HP.

OEM computers are sometimes fussy about the RAM they can use. Not necessarily demanding the best, just what is compatible with the memory controllers.
