Hi, I am going to buy another memory chip, coz my old one is dead...And i am confuse on which type of memory is better..
The DDR 3200 or the PC133 SDRAM.
I can't remember is it the DDR twice as fast as the SDRAM or something like that i read in the past.
There is this two companies selling the same level 512MB PC3200 DDR400 memory chip, but one stated "512MB PC3200 DDR400 CAS 2.5" and the other one didn't state..does all the DDR memory run "CAS"? Does the two above chip really matter? speed?
I don't really know about computer..
Thanks.:)

Go with the DDR all day..the lower the CAS the better.

(from techtarget)CAS: In computer memory technology, CAS (column address strobe) is a signal sent to a dynamic random access memory (DRAM) that tells it that an associated address is a column address. A data bit in DRAM is stored in a cell located by the intersection of a column address and a row address. A RAS (row address strobe) signal is used to validate the row address.

Since your comparing DDR with SDRAM, i'll assume you have SDRAM slots on your motherboard, rather than DDR ram slots (DIMM's). DDR doesn't physically fit into an SDRAM slot, so if this is the case you're out of luck. Don't go down to your local Best Buy and fork over $60 for RAM that doesn't fit on your motherboard.

I'm just speculating here, perhaps more information would help answer your question. Here's one, what kind of motherboard do you have?? With this little bit of knowledge, it would take two seconds to answer your question.

I assumed his board was capable of both since he was considering the two. :(

It's a Asus A7V8X motherborad.
It can support DDR400 it said on the box.
I was just thinking to get the faster type of Ram, the DDR or the SDRAM.
I just went to get the Micron Original 512MB PC3200 DDR400 for $140 in Canadian.
around 100 USD.
I had a 512 PC2700 DDR333 on this PC, But i placed it on my other computer now, because that PC memory is dead. Now i am using this new one.
Think my borad can support SDRAM and DDR ? It just said it can support DDR..i don't really know tho.
The PC3200 is a lot faster than the PC2700? I use this PC to play games mostly.
Got a question that isn't in this topic..
-What is HDD??Don't know what it stands for, but ppl are using that word.
Thanks guys.:)

Leuk,
here is what your board can take...
you've got 3 x DDR DIMM Sockets with a
maximum of 3 GB unbuffered *PC3200 /PC2700/PC2100/PC1600 non-ECC SDRAM Memory
(Note: PC3200 Max. to 2 banks only; PC2700 Max. to 4 banks only) this is from the Asus site.
These are the appoved types of RAM recommended by Asus:

Vendor Type Size Model #
Samsung PC3200 512MB M368L6423DTM-CC4
Samsung PC3200 256MB M368L3223DTM-CC4
Kingston PC3200 512MB KVR400X64C25 / 512
Micron PC3200 256MB MT16VDDT3264AG-403B2 PC3200U-30440-Z
Micron PC3200 128MB MT8VDDT1664AG-403B2 PC3200U-30440-Z
A-DATA PC3200 256MB MDOWID3C08501E1Z
A-DATA PC3200 512MB MDOWID3D16501E1Z
Kingmax PC3200 256MB MPXB62D-68KX3-MBA
and to answer your last question...HDD is Hard Disk Drive...good luck
