CPU/Ram: 256 MB
Manufacturer/Model: NX 9010

I have 2 memory slots in my Laptop (Compaq HP NX 9010) . It currently has a DDR333 256MB memory card. I added a DDR333 512mb memory card in the other slot. It does not want to recognise the additional memory. My system BIOS is KH.F.2

Remove the old RAM stick, and see if the PC boots up with the new one. Try changing slots too. If not, download memtest tool, and check the memory.

I have done that before. The memory test tool is also not recognising the additional memory. Do you think there might be a BIOS setting that needs to change
