You should be able to get 1 gig sticks of pc3200

as to the prices ! that will depend on the brand of ram.

More importantly, can your mother board handle 1 GIG ddr modules ?

I would recommend 2 modules of 512.

Skip is right make sure

But Yes the p4p800 does take 4 gig.

Why would you need it ?
You planning on doing work for NASA ? lol

Grab 2 modules of 512 xtreme ( very nice stuff ) wish i had the $.

Set them up in dual chanel configuration, sit back and watch the thing fly.

Chew XP without even trying.

What CPU are you planning on ?

I was planning on using a P4 2.8 and a Radeon 9600pro, (9800pro is to damn much, and it'll drop 300bucks in less than 6 months.) as well a gig of Ram I guess.

The 2.8 will do the job very nicely indeed.

Yeah i agree the 9800 is not as good as it was made out to be. Doubt very much if you would see anyy diff between the 2 anyway.

As I said 2 x 512 will be heaps, I run same config. hat you may want to try is when you load up XP switch the swap file off and run without it. That will force XP to load directly into the ram and run from there. You should see a vast speed improvement. With a gig of ram you can do that.

Just make sure your power supply is darn good one, both power capacity and quality, those components will demand clean strong current espcl with a gig of ram on the board and the pro card.

Unless you have already done so have a good look at the ENARMAX 420 OR THE ANTEC 380, OR THE THERMALTAKE 420 TOTALPOWER units.

Strictly personal prefrence is the Enermax Or the Antec. The Thermaltake seems to run much hoter than the other 2 and a exhaust fan at the top of the case becomes almost necessary, just depends on overall amount of components. I have used the thermal take for an amd rig few mnoths ago and its an awsome PSU no doubt but it just runs a bit warm i thought.

have fun, enjoy
