data recovery yields only bmp files

Hi,
I'm running GetDataBack, a data recovery program on a disk that was formatted. It had about 70 gigs of info on it, all types of files. When I run the program all it yields is bitmap files that are about 1.5gigs a piece. Any ideas?

Are you sure your using the correct version of GetDataBack? If the formatted drive was FAT32, you'll need the FAT version of GDB. They make both an NTFS (XP/NT) and FAT (Win9x) versions.
You may also try a program called PC Inpector File Recovery. I've had a lot of success pulling data off of formatted drives using their free software...
