Hi users:

I need help on recovering the files from a defective hard disk.

Can you help me on the data recovery of the 120GB Sata HDD of Dell Latitude D630?
The last activity of the user was trying to burn a file into a CD, then the computer hangs and shutdown.

When he tried to boot the machine, it prompts “Unable to detect bootable device…”

I removed immediately the hard disk and slaved it to another computer, but a laptop neither a desktop cannot detect the hard disk.

The laptop vendor can only replace the defective hard disk and they cannot help me on the recovery of the hard disk.

Please help.

There are some open sourced tools like testdisk and photorec as well as shareware and for fee software like's stuff.

Kind of depends on what is wrong. If the format or partition info has been damaged it might be easy. If the controller is gone then you'd need to salvage a controller. Otherwise you can't fix heads or platens.
