I have by mistake cleaned the lens of my DVD ROM with alcohol and it has stopped functioning all together after that. Can the lens be salvaged as I am not able to get a replacement for the same ?

I doubt the lens cleaning CD will help. The fact that you used alcohol have left a thin film on the lens & it in turn may have reacted with some plastic lenses which is why your drive stopped working.
