My internal harddrive was damaged. i called technical support for dell and they said that i have to replace my hard drive and that my old hardrive had unrecoverable problems and it can't be used. however i had some pictures on my old hard drive that i do not wish to part with. is there any way to recover those pictures?

You can try installing the drive as a slave on another 'XP' system and see if you can copy the files off of it.

I agree with HAM30. The same exact thing happened to me just a while ago. But not only was there pictures on the drive, yet, more valuable things. Just slip it in as a slave in another computer and you should be just fine. JBC
