I'm want to upgrade my monitor, i'm using 15inch flat LCD monitor, but i want to get bigger screen monitor like 17 or 19 inch. I was looking for those monitors in LCD section but they are so expensive, but if i look for CRT monitors they are a lot cheeper than LCD. Major thing i do with my computer is gaming, programingm, watching movie, listening to music. Do you think it's good idea to get CRT monitor? what's so good about LCD except for the amout of space it takes?

Space and weight are the only real reasons to go with an LCD. The technology is there if you want to get a 17" LCD for gaming, but if you go any bigger, it's not going to be that great. The picture still isn't going to be as good as a CRT.

I can't stress this enough, if you're going to use an LCD for gaming, you must have a pixel response time of less than 20 ms, which is not available for anything bigger than 17" right now. Anything above that and you're going to see some ghosting and the picture just won't look as good when there's any kind of quick movement on it.

CRT's are MUCH better for gaming, especially at high resolutions. LCDs are good for office work and saving space, but for gsming, it wont hold up to a good crt monitor. And a good 19" - 21" crt will run less than a much smaller LCD. Make sure to get a flat CRT with a trinitron tube, and look for one that supports at LEAST 75Mhz at the resolution you plan to play your games at. Personally, I've always found the samsung syncmaster 955DF T-T to be an excellent low cost 19" monitor, but they are being washed out so they are getting hard to find for a good price.

Goodwill, yesterday, 19 inch crt monitor, $18.18 lol.

People are ditching their CRT's in favor of LCD's. And you can pick them up cheap.

For all uses, crt is better. Except of course, for space saving.

Thanks for all of your adiveces. I'm still thinking but i decided to get LCD. I know CTR is a lot better for gaming but i don't think i can fit it in my desk.
i'm looking for LCD that works best for gaming. I'm looking for 17" LCD with fast respons time. Any suggestions? Thanks

LCDs only work best at their rated resolution because they use exactly one hard pixel for one soft pixel. If the LCD is 1280x1024 that's the resolution you'll always have to use unless you don't mind blurry screens.
