Comment:

I recently purchased a SoundBlaster Live 5.1 Digital soundcard, and some Creative Inspire 5.1 speakers.

I cannot ever get the center speaker to work!!!

There is no option for 5.1 speakers in the surround mixer, I can't hear anything from it when watching DVDs, or Playing MP3's.

I tried the little thing in the PlayCenter, but that also doesn't work, and I have my speaker setting in windows to 5.1 speakers.

What is my problem here? Aren't I supposed to hear things from my center speaker?

See if this helps.

Open up the Playcenter software and make sure its in Player mode. Look for something that says CMSS and click on it. It defaults to the off position. Click it on and try playing something.

Let us know if that helps.

Good luck!

I have already tried this, it has failed to produce center speaker audio.

I have the exact same problem. I trained my brain to think that it is working correctly when a rocket is flying straight-center towards my head (UT2K3). Other than that senario, I am unable to hear anything come from my center speaker.
If you open the 'mixer' and lower all the speaker volumes except of-course the center, you should hear some distortion.
Bottem Line, if you cant hear anything come from the front-center speaker (5.1), I assume you cant hear anything come from the rear-center speaker (6.1). So I saved some denaro purchasing the 5.1 over the 6.1.

I paid for 5.1 speakers and a 5.1 soundcard and I am getting 4.1 sound? What kind of bull is this? Creative should certainly fix this problem.
