Comment: Had power failure last night. A couple of surges when power restored. Computer CPU will not turn on - no power. Tried unplugging and reset button. No power to CPU. When power cord attached and plugged in CPU makes intermittent clicking type noise but won't power up.

Reply: (edit)It sounds like either the PSU or the mother board got fried. The best way to be sure (and the cheapest) is to install a new (different) power supply and then go from there. borelli34

Reply: (edit)Most power supplies have a fuse in them that will break to prevent frying everything. Take out your p/s and open it up (it's very easy) and look for the fuse. If it's black or blown, there's your problem. Some p/s will let you replace that, but most wont, so you'll just need a new one.

Reply: (edit)I have a power supply in the shop now with the same prob. The fuse was not blown, but one of the 6 outputs was. Fuses are usless. Get another power supply
