Comment: hi everybody, im going to get a new pc soon, and i was wondering what you suggest: an Athlon xp 2800+ barton for $265, athlon xp 2500+ barton for $139, or a pentium 4 2.66B GHz for $273? i dont really know how much of a performance differnece there is between those 3, but the xp 2500+ is much cheaper. any suggestions? thanks brian

Reply: (edit)stick with AMD. and personally, for the money, i'd recommend AMD 2600. its under a 100 dollars now, just make sure you get one with the 333mhz FSB. i don't ever buy close to top of the line, its a waste of money.

Reply: (edit)I personally would go with the Pentium. Your price seems a bit high however, you should shop around (cough.. see above link... cough cough). Jimi_l

Reply: (edit)As confirmed by all the benchmark tests, you definitely get more bang for your buck with AMD. Performance difference between the 2500+ & 2800+ most likely isn't going to be significant for 99% of whatever it is you use your PC for.
