hi everybody,
im going to get a new pc soon, and i was wondering what you suggest: an Athlon xp 2800+ barton for $265, athlon xp 2500+ barton for $139, or a pentium 4 2.66B GHz for $273? i dont really know how much of a performance differnece there is between those 3, but the xp 2500+ is much cheaper. any suggestions? thanks

stick with AMD. and personally, for the money, i'd recommend AMD 2600. its under a 100 dollars now, just make sure you get one with the 333mhz FSB. i don't ever buy close to top of the line, its a waste of money.

I personally would go with the Pentium. Your price seems a bit high however, you should shop around (cough.. see above link... cough cough).

As confirmed by all the benchmark tests, you definitely get more bang for your buck with AMD. Performance difference between the 2500+ & 2800+ most likely isn't going to be significant for 99% of whatever it is you use your PC for.
