Comment: Okay, I'm looking to upgrade my current CPU (Duron 1.2ghz) in fear of not being able to keep my comp up with the rest. I was looking to simply upgrade it to a Athlon XP 1800+. Is that fast enough? I figure with the power of a Radeon 9700 Pro and a bit more RAM it should fly. (Cough, Star Wars Galaxies, UT:2003, NWN, DAoC:Shrouded Isles, cough cough ;)) Is the 1800+ a fast enough CPU to keep frames feeding in next gen 3D games?

Reply: (edit)I just upgraded my son's 1.2 AMD Tbird to a AMD XP2100. But I also changed his motherboard to a K3 Ultra2 and then I had to change to DDR. Why can't I leave well enough alone. I can't keep my hands off these things.

Reply: (edit)Before upgrading, make sure you check the specs on your motherboard to ensure that it supports a 1800+ A BIOS flash may be necessary before changing the CPU to ensure that your machine recognizes the 1800+.
