Is that your idle temp or loaded temp? If it's the idle temp & it's being being reported accurately, it's on the high side. Since your MB temp is 35C, your CPU should be about 45C at idle, give or take.

Are you having any stability problems? How many case fans do you have? What about the CPU cooling fan?

I run a 2500+ overcloced to 3200+. My cpu temperature is around 45degs max when under load. I was worried when it went up from 39-40 before overclocking so did some reading up. The XP3200+ is ok right up to 90degs C so 62, although higher than I'm used to personally shouldn't do any damage. Some of the other guys might even be able to tell you if your mobo/chip has automatic temperature protection and will shut down if it goes beyond it's maximum safe temperature.

Have you upgraded your chip but not your heat sink & fan? This could be another problem.

62C is hot for that CPU. 40-50C is a better temp range.

You should have thermal paste between your CPU core and your HSF.
