Hey I've noticed that the temp on my cpu gets up to 52-55 C under use while my case temp is only 28C is this overly bad, what could I do, my current cpu fan is about 1.5"x 1.5" and spins at 5800 my heatsink is fairly small about 2.5"x3" which seems to be about as big as the space on mobo would allow...

hello
there are quite a few chioces for fans and heat sinks.there are copper ones that are suposed to be good and water cooled.ect.
you might want to goto toms and see whats rated the best for heat and noise ect.
my amd with real heavy use gets to about the same as yours and ive still just got the wimpy stock fan and heat sink.

Temperature is within the AMD specs.

If you want to be certain that all cooling is in line with their recommendations get hold of this PDF file.

Yes the temperature is within AMD specs but this is the late fall and if your summers are as hot as mine (105F-110F) then 52-55C is to hot. Right now my processor temp is 42C and I know that sounds good for an AMD 1.4 gig processor but it is in the forties outside too. Last summer I was getting stressed because my CPU temps were running up to 67C or hotter. If your summers are hot then I say get a huge heat sink with a fast fan, like I did. Also, if you have an extra five and a half inch bay, install one of those hard drive cooling fans. They will help keep both your hard drives and DVD player cooler. Last, if you do not have a system fan installed on the inside front sucking air in, (if your power is blowing out) then get one. Those are almost a must today. Hoped I helped.
