CPU Socket Question

Specs: Windows 7
What is Intel's newest and fastest socket as of now, 1366 or 1155, and the sandy bridge is the newest CPU ?

SO an i7 2600K is top notch right now ?

the socket 1155 with the 2600K would be the better investment right now. There are currently top of the line 1st generation i7's for the 1366 socket that are more extreme and much more expensive, but the socket is a dead end and there will be no more releases made for it. The Sandy Bridge 2600K is very easily overclocked with the right board and numbers around 5GHz are not unheard of without extreme cooling and there will be newer processors available for the socket, and many have been hinting that at least one of the current chipsets for the 1155 may have at least limited support for the Ivy Bridge chips if the board mfg offers a BIOS update for it at some time in the future (I don't know of any of the board mfg's yet boasting of this yet though).

You have to be a little bit crazy to keep you from going insane.
