Hello everyone I am currently running with a Intel D945GCCRL motherboard with a Pentium D 940. 2 GB of Ram, a video card, tV tuner card, and 500WT power supply. I have tried a stock fan with the CPU Paste already applied to it and also a higher end Masscool CPU fan. I have purchased the Artic Cool CPU paste (i believe thats what its called) and the CPU still overheats. I have mounted/remounted my board so many times I cannot count. I have tried running the board without it even being mounted, and just on the nonstatic bag. I have replaced the motherboard twice and the CPU once and still no luck. The CPU gets to about 62/63C and PC shuts down. Any ideas? I have none.

Heres some info from my bios screen:

Processor Fan Speed: 1080
CPU Temp 54C
Internal Temp 28C
Remote Temp 28C
V12.0 --11.29V
V5.0 -- 5.278V
V3.3 --3.315V
V1.5 --1.508V
Vccp --1.248V

Could the voltage have anything to do with the overheating and shut down?

Stick with one thread. Your CPU is NOT overheating! If anything, your voltages are out of whack. What's the make/model of your power supply?

Hello,

Your processor fan speed is very low, my
processor fan runs at between 2400-3200 rpm
depending on load. Check on that.

I have no clue how to change the processor speed. I have checked on my BIOS options to change the fan speed and the temperature at which the computer shuts down and I cannot find ether option. Any help?

"I have checked on my BIOS options to change the fan speed and the temperature at which the computer shuts down and I cannot find ether option"

Look in the BIOS under Advanced > Boot Configuration Menu...find CPU Fan Control

"Allows the CPU fan to be controlled in order to optimize acoustics. If disabled, the CPU fan will run at 100%."

Also under Advanced > Boot Configuration Menu, look for Lowest Fan Speed:

"This option defines the fan speed at the lowest system temperature.

Slow allows the fans to continue to run at a reduced speed at low system temperatures.
Off turns off the fans at low system temperatures.

Lowest System Fan Speed:

This option defines the system fan speed at the lowest system temperature.

Slow allows the fans to continue to run at a reduced speed at low system temperatures.
Off turns off the system fans at low system temperatures."

This info can be found at the Intel website in the "BIOS setting dictionary":

It can only be one thing - you have the heatsink installed wrong.

Well I have followed instructions exact, and I have applied, removed, and reapplyed and tried 3 different fans.
