Solved cpu fan startsup for 2 sec then off

Specs: Windows XP, p4 3.0ghz lga 775
specs: motherboard d1837-a21-gs-2 fujitsu mobo p4 3.0 lga775 cpu 256mb x2 ddr2 ram

when i power on the ups, the fan moves 2-3 sec and then stops. the power on headers, when touched, do nothing . i am bench testing the system with the mobo , ram, procc and smps . nothing else is attached right now. I still get the same result.

My guess is the power supply is faulty.

You didn't give us much to go on here. Was this computer previously working OK? If so, what led up to the problem? Any changes in hardware? Did you attempt to clean inside the case?

the system was working alright and there is no change in the hardware. the case has been cleaned thoroghly.

The symptoms described sound like a failing power supply.

Can you boot into Windows safe Mode or even into the BIOS (setup) screens?
