Comment:
I had a 1400 amd with 256 mb 266 ddr ram. it stopped working one day. I thought I narrowed it down to the processor so I got a new one. a 2400 amd. that didnt work, got a new mobo and the new ram (256 mb 333 ddr). that didnt work. (got a new vid card too because the new mobo physically wouldnt support the old).
the first time I turned it on after installing everything the monitor showed the 128mb vid card then the monitor powered down. I have unplugged everything and tried it. cpu fan comes on, nothing else. same thing happens with everything plugged in.

Update.
seems the drives do kick on. just no monitor. as I said, its a new mobo (biostar m7ncd) and vid card (verto geforce fx 128 8x agp). I have tried everything between two different mobo's in the same case (dont as yet have another power supply to try).
so, am I losing my mind? feels like it.
