CPU FAN failure

Dell / Pentium(r) d 2.80ghz

Specs: Windows XP
When I turn on the PC, the message pops up;
"CPU FAN Failure" but the fan still works... Any
Idea? Thanks!

Fans can have a sensor to sense and report the speed of the fan. If the fan is running at it's normal speed, one possibility could be that the sensor has failed.

Fans are usually not that difficult to replace.

Yes, I have built many computers. I never have a problem waiting in line or having the sales people bug me. If they didn't have something I wanted, they were able to order it for me. I needed something that the big stores didn't have and they were able to order it for me very quick.‎
