Hola, this morning our lights went out while I was lying in bed . I got up later to turn on my pc and found the power button blinking. The PC will not turn on, Ive unplugged it and left it unplugged several times, the power button just keeps blinking and wont turn on. Can anyone help me out? The socket is fine, Ive even changed it to check . All I get is the blinking light. Could it be a power source ? Hmm

Help please, Thank you so very much.

You may be lucky enough that the powersupply is the only thing that was damaged by the surge. Of course since all ATX or later configuration systems always have some power going to the motherboard there could be other damage that will only manifest when you have replaced the powersupply. Unless you have spare components with which to test I suggest you take the system to a qualified tech. Oh, and get a surge protected power strip before the next blackout.

I used to have a signature but it disappeared and I just couldn't be bothered writing another so please feel free to ingore this.

Was your PC plugged into a surge protector?

Have you replaced the surgeprotector then or bypassed it by plugging directly into the wall socket?

Is the PSU from Bestec? I ask because of what your Manufacturer/Model: HP Pav states. I've personally seen a PSU from an OEM system come back to life after flipping the voltage selector back & forth a few (4-5) times.

Don't ask me why it worked, but do remember to have the selector back at the applicable voltage -- viz 115/230V -- setting before firing it back ON. If that doesn't work -- time to tear the couch apart for loose change ;-)

P.S. Don't rule out the modular power cord too. Although, the odds of that being the problem is pretty high.
