Which would preform better say a P4 2.8 mhz with 256 cache vs. a P4 2.0 mhz 512 cache?

I agree with johnwaren, I don't think there is a P4 2.8GHz P4 with 265 L2 cache
Start with a new motherboard based on an Intel chipset...the P4M266 is a weak board. Upgrade to socket 775 & get a P4 Prescott at 800FSB & 1MB L2. A new S775 board/CPU/HSF combo is about the same price as a higher end S478 P4 Northwood. For example:

The cpu is a P4 (aka Willamette) and there are some odd makes of it. A buddy of mine own a used computer store and has some used P4 chips that will fit my PC.
The question I was trying to ask is more towards speed vs. cache and I was trying to give the size
example. How the speed of the mhz would affect the pc vs. how much the procesor is able to cache? Saying both processor are same bus and socket size.

I realize that the P4/256K L2 is a Williamette, but to the best of my knowledge, they maxed at 2.0GHz. Before the question can be answered, you have to get the facts straight, unless you're just asking a general theoretical question & don't care if the CPUs actually exist or not? I'm just telling you what my buddy told me he had. Maybe he still had some pasty stuff on it and it was hard to read the processor. Sorry if I'm wrong.

That table with the cpu specs is interesting though according to the table the processor he has would have to be either a 2.0 mhz 256 cache or a 2.8 mhz with a 512 cache. I will have to give him a call and thanks. 2.8 mhz with 512 cache might last me coulpe years before major upgrade.
