HI,

I have recently had a look at my pc's temps, and they are CPU 63c MOBO 44c.

The above is at idle.

My CPU is an AMD 2000+ and my MOBO is ASUS A7m266.

My Power Supply is a 350w PSU which only sits around 1-2 inches away from the CPU

I have no other fans other than the PSU and CPU fans.

These temps seem really hot to me.

Any Ideas??

They are both pretty high. Adding a case fan should help. Check your power supply fan to make sure it's not clogged up with dust bunnies.

also consider fitting a larger cpu fan and adding some thermal grease between the two.

I forgot to mention, those temps are with the side panel OFF.

I have tried 2 different CPU fans (one which was really big/loud and expensive) It made little difference.

I have replaced the CPU fan many times (with thermal paste)

From memory, I had at one time 2 pc's with the same mobo and cpu, and this one was always 10c hotter. The only difference being, this one has a 350w PSU.

I am lost.

Could I have a faulty MOBO or PSU? (the MOBO was second hand)

One thing I do notice, is that this PSU fan is VERY quiet (compared to my other pc's 300w PSU) It also doesnt seem to be blowing out the air at a force as the 300w psu is

Here's an idea or two. 44°C is 111°F and I doubt it's that hot in your room. Try this; grab a small house fan and let it blow into the case from a couple of feet away. Let the system idle for half an hour and post back room, motherboard and cpu temps.

Good idea by Skip.

But, I wonder if those readings are correct. Are they from the Bios?

You might consider replacing the power supply fan.

As Skip suggested, 44C is awfully high for a system temp, unless your room temp is 40C...lol.

I think his problem is this: "I have no other fans other than the PSU and CPU fans"

Try Skip's suggestion about the room fan...if your temps drop off significantly (& they probably will), it means you need to add a couple of case cooling fans

Thx for your advice guys. Ill borrow a house fan tomorrow and try it.

Im still worried about the PSU though, cos the fan seems very weak compared to my other pc which has a 300w PSU. Is this normal? I would expect the 350w fan to be stronger

I can't even hear the fan on my new 400w and it exhausts as much or more air than my old 350w. Don't worry about it.

The noise wasnt my concern. If i put my hand at the back of the pc, I can hardly feel any air blowing out of the 350w PSU, whereas the 300w PSU i can feel from about 4 inches away.

Does this seem right?

I still feel it's OK and it's similar to my setup. I have a 120mm in the front and an 80mm just under the psu to move air. Both run at +5vdc and are very quiet. At a distance of over an inch or so, I can't "feel" any real airflow from any of my fans. Case temps 2°C above ambient speak for the ability of my fans to do their job.

jorge,

I suspect some sort of problem with your temp reporting...the board temp can't be higher than the CPU...it seems as if they're reversed. Are these temps taken from the BIOS or from a software program? Regardless...either 33C or 37C is an excellent CPU temp.

IMO, 6 fans is overkill...but to each, his own. As for your fan configuration, it's out of balance.
