Hello. I have one question. Does the fsb of the cpu have to be the same as the mobo? Why I am asking this is because I am replacing my cpu and mobo and I need them to work with the memory I already have which is pc133 SDR. The mobo will be a MSI KT7 Turbo2 and the cpu will be either an AMD ATHLON MP 1.2 GHZ(PALOMINO) or AMD ATHLON XP 1800 1.53 GHZ (THOROUGHBRED). Both of these have a fsb of 266. The mobo can be set to 100/200 & 133/266. I just want to make sure that the cpu that I get will work. Does anyone have any ideas? Just in case you would need to know, the rest of what will also be put on this mobo is GF440 SE 64mb sdr,360 power supply,Creative Sound Blaster pci, ethernet card, ITouch keyboard,Logitech mouse,Hp psc series2210v,generic cdrw external drive, kds monitor and Creative 4.1 speakers. I think that is it. I would really appreciate any help that I could get on this. Thank you.

The FSB is the data-transfer capability line between the CPU and the memory, with the mobo in-between. All three have FSBs.
First, all FSBs are backwards-compatible, meaning that a faster FSB will run just fine with a slower FSB.
However, for the fastest processing time, all FSBs should match. If your CPU runs 133, then your memory and mainboard should also run 133 (266FSB). Otherwise the slowest buss will slow down the transfer of data, effectively causing the faster unit to spin its wheels waiting for the data transfer, thus the whole system slows. Now, for example, remember that if you suddenly see an incredible, once-in-a-lifetime bargain for memory @ 400FSB, but your CPU and mobo only run at 266, still grab it. You still can use it in your 266 system, and you may want to build a unit using this in the future!

Your motherboard will support a 2600+ with the latest bios. The 1800+ will work well for you. Too bad this board isn't an overclocker...can't lock the agp/pci but it is a solid board. Power supply should be just fine too.BTW, if you decide to flash the bios in this board (no need for what you're doing) make damn sure you know which version of the motherboard you have. They made three or four versions of the same board.
Have fun
