Corrupt master file table

October 9, 2011 at 05:13:23
Specs: Windows Vista
Lately I have had problems with my acer laptop every time I turn it on. This black screen with white letters appear saying that the master file table is corrupted and windows will try to fix it. 30-35 minutes later it says that it wasn't able to fix it, but two minutes later it is fixed. Can anyone please tell me what to do, so that I wont have to wait 40 minutes before I can use my laptop. I've tried to write to acer's customer service but they require a serial number which is rubbed off the label at the back of my laptop :(

If this is a recent problem the try a system restore to before you began having the problem. If this does not ix it then back up your files to an external drive, gather your install disks, and do a factory restore (see manual for key(s) to tap during boot up to access recovery console. This will return your hard drive to the same as it was when it was shipped from the factory. If this reoccurs, you may have a bad memory card, or a bad hard drive sector. Post back results.

You have to be a little bit crazy to keep you from going insane.
