Specs: Windows 7, 2gb
Hey there, I have this HP Pavilion w5700 and I would like to know if is worth to change the actual processor "Pentium D 8xx Dual Core (2.80Hz)" to a "Core 2 Duo E6x00 "

RAM : 2 gb (i'm going to buy another 2gb that as far as i know is the MAX i can add)
Video Card: Asus ATI Radeon HD 4600 series, total memory 1274
O.S: Windows 7 ultimate 32-bit
BIOS: Phoenix - AwardBIOS v6.00PG

What i want is to run the sims 3 normally!!
I've used this computer even for rendering video in 3DMAX (of course takes forever but is not a bad computer, after all it has more than 6 years old LOL)

5700 is the series, it would be helpful to know the exact model number. I'm guessing you have a Pavilion w5735la:

If that's correct, the "Processor upgrade information" states that the Core 2 Duo E6x00 is supported but make sure you have the latest BIOS installed before swapping CPUs. The C2D is vastly superior to the Pentium D but I'm not convinced it will solve your problem. You didn't state which video card you have, again, you only provided the series. Is it an HD 4650 or HD 4670? How much memory (it's not "1274") & what type (DDR2 or DDR3)?

If you have a HD 4650 with DDR2, a video card upgrade may be the better route to take. Or you might want to upgrade both the CPU & video card, however, you may have to upgrade the power supply too. Then again, it's an old system so it might not be worth sinking too much money into.
