copying using ghost 14

I have Norton ghost 14 on my laptop.

I done this before:

I had the old hard drive 30GHD and a new 320GHD and had two IDE to USB cables and was able to copy from old to new with no problem.

But I was not able to get hold of two IDE to USB cables (only one).

So my question is:

Can I hook the old 20GHD via IDE to USB to my laptop and then copy to my laptop then remove old 20GHD from IDE/USB, and connect new (formatted 500GHD) via IDE to USB cable and then copy from laptop to new 500GHD?

And if YES do I check the following:

_ Check source for file systems errors .... (I would say NO)
_ Check destination for file system errors .... (I would say NO)
_ Set drive active (for booting OS)...... (I would say NO)
_ Disable SmartSector copying .........(Unsure)
_ Ignore bad sectors during copy .... (I would say NO)
_ Copy MBR ......... (Unsure)

If someone could provide some assistance I sure would appreciate it.
