a very long time @ usb 1.1...
vague, i know, but i only have a 2.0 external...the maximum transfer is 1.5 megabytes per second for 1.1, but you won't see 1.5

@ usb 2.0 speeds, it is very noticably faster
i just did a 2 gig transfer in 2 minutes and 47 seconds, so 25 gigs would take about 35 minutes on usb 2.0...usb 2 is 40x faster than 1.1...multiply 40 and 35 = 1400 minutes = 23 hours...that's an approximate

snakeandcrane,

The speed of your machine (1.5 ghz celeron), amount of RAM, as well as the number of files contained within th 25 GB will have a conspicuous impact. Meaning the faster the machine, the more the memory, and the fewer the number of files, the faster the transfer.

That said, my guess is over 6 hours (perhaps 7) to complete the transfer. I transfered a half GB in about 9 minutes.

Incidentally, my benchmarks on several machines that I performed a while back indicated that USB 2.0 is about 11 - 12 times faster.
